The Oklahoma Democratic Veterans Federation strongly supports the election of Karen Gaddis to Oklahoma Senate District 25. Karen’s husband, Bill, was a long-time US Army officer whose duties included work with Vietnamese refugees at Fort Chafee, Arkansas. As a Counselor at Tulsa’s Memorial High School, she worked closely with the school’s JROTC instructors. While serving in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, she had a Veterans’ Liaison on her staff.
Karen Gaddis speaks directly about the most important issues facing veterans and military families: availability and affordability of healthcare – both physical and mental, housing and employment. In the Oklahoma Senate she will prioritize veterans and their families in federally funded programs directed to healthcare, housing and employment. Karen remembers that when her husband faced a medical emergency while on active duty, the US Army did everything right, getting him the immediate treatment he desperately needed, rushing her to his bedside, and sticking by him through months of rehabilitation. While serving in the Oklahoma Senate, Karen Gaddis will remember this debt to the military buddies and wonderful doctors who gave her back her husband for another 40 years together.
