The daughter of a US Air Force Veteran and granddaughter of two US Marines, Melissa understands both the rewards and challenges facing military service members and their families. She knows that Veterans and military families face numerous challenges, including prevalent health issues like PTSD, anxiety, and depression, conditions often worsened by financial difficulties stemming from disabilities or health conditions. She also understands that female Veterans experience unique hurdles both during their service and as they transition back to civilian life. She knows it is crucial for the US Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as the Oklahoma DVA, to function efficiently in providing Veterans with all the benefits, including healthcare benefits, which they have earned with their service.

As a State Senator, Melissa Bryce will support legislation and ample funding for healthcare and employment opportunities, including job training programs. She is committed to addressing mental health issues by advocating for available services and working to reduce the stigma often associated with mental health challenges, thereby encouraging members of the Veterans community to seek the help they deserve.
