The Oklahoma Democratic Veterans Federation strongly supports the election of Dennis Baker to the US House of Representatives from Oklahoma District One. The grandson of a US Army Sergeant killed in action in the Battle of Saint-Mihiel, France in 1918 and the father of three US Marines, Baker pursued a career in law enforcement as a Tulsa Police Officer and an FBI Special Agent. He trained with military counterparts and pursued investigations with them on many US military bases. Counting family visits, these facilities included Marine Corps Bases Quantico, Pendleton, Lejeune, Beaufort and Parris Island, Ft. Bragg (now Ft. Liberty), Luke and Kirtland Air Force Bases, the US Naval Academy and the Pentagon.

Dennis Baker understands that military families need and deserve help when loved ones are deployed, from groceries to day care, and that they also require help in transitioning from active duty to good civilian employment. He knows that Veterans need help navigating a complex and often discouraging bureaucracy. As a US Representative, Dennis will work to expand and improve health care benefits, and – to address the alarming suicide rate among Veterans – improved mental health services. He will always be on the side of military families, whether stationed in the US or deployed abroad, and when they transition from military life. He will support, fund and protect the PACT Act, passed by Congressional Democrats, which provides healthcare for 3.5 million Veterans who were exposed to toxic burn pits. He will work to reduce the bureaucratic obstacles to Veterans receiving the care they deserve for their service to the Nation.
