Kerri Keck for State House District 26
Name: Kerri Keck kerrikeck.com
The Oklahoma Democratic Veterans Federation strongly supports the election of Kerri Keck to Oklahoma House District 26 (Shawnee and parts of Pottawatomie County). Enlisting in 1997, Kerri served four years as a Signals Intelligence Analyst with the 3/3 Armored Cavalry Regiment before returning to Oklahoma to pursue a college degree and serving 19 active-duty years with the Oklahoma National Guard. She deployed to Bosnia in 2000 in support of the NATO mission there, and twice to Afghanistan (2003 and 2011) with the 45th Infantry Brigade, responsible for route security and for helping to train and resource the Afghan National Army. Kerri’s husband (21 years active duty), father (a Vietnam veteran), and grandfather (a World War II veteran of the Okinawa campaign) all served in the US Army, while her brother and nephew were US Marines.
Her legislative priorities for veterans and military families include better funding and availability for mental health care and drug treatment counseling, adequate support from medical professionals for the unique needs of women – including reproductive services, and fully funded information resources for honorably discharged veterans regarding housing, education, health care and employment services. Kerri thinks that private organizations should be barred from profiting from assisting veterans through the claims process. These services are available free through veteran service organizations.
In office, Kerri will work with mental health organizations to improve access to resources for veterans in rural areas, and to reduce the stigma of obtaining help. She will work to ensure that savings from State Question 780 are used for drug treatment and prevention services in Oklahoma, including expanded access to Drug Court and Veterans Court. She will fight for affordable dental care for National Guard members. Kerri’s priorities for all Oklahomans, veterans among them, include enshrining into law access to reproductive healthcare, including contraception and abortion. She will fight to protect election integrity and safeguard the right to vote for all Oklahoma citizens.
