Mark Mann for OK Senate District 46

The Oklahoma Democratic Veterans Federation strongly supports the election of Mark Mann for Oklahoma Senate District 46. Mark has close family ties to Veterans, including a grandfather and great uncles who served in World War II, two uncles in the US Army, one more in US Air Force, and a father-in-law retired from the Air Force. He understands that many issues facing Veterans and military families must be addressed at the State level. While many of these programs are funded with federal dollars, additional state funds should be invested, drawing on Oklahoma’s surplus of over two billion dollars, to improve and expand services to those who have served and are serving.

Mark believes that no Veteran should ever go homeless, so the state must help fund county and city governments and leverage federal dollars in addressing this critical issue. He believes that the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Mental Health need to make comprehensive mental health and substance abuse services available to Veterans and military families in a robust and timely manner. Job training and small business assistance through the ODVA should be strengthened, fully funded, and available to Veterans throughout the State. Oklahoma’s Veterans Centers need the funding to hire and retain staff, so that Oklahoma can honor its commitment to Veterans in a world class way. In light of Oklahoma’s teacher shortage, the State must also bolster the Troops to Teachers program, bringing the rich experience of Veterans into Oklahoma classrooms. As a State Senator, Mark Mann will be an able advocate of these priorities.
